Rob Holland Crowned Advanced World Aerobatic Champion; USA Team Also Takes First Place Win
August 11, 2008 - The Advanced World Aerobatic Championships for 2008 concluded successfully on Saturday August 9th. The excellent weather in Pendleton Oregon allowed all flights to be completed for the championship. Rob Holland of the United States took first place as individual pilot, with Tamas Illes of Hungry in second place and Eddie Goggins of Ireland in third place. The US Team took first place overall, with second place going to South Africa and third place going to Great Britain.

The teams and individual competitors enjoyed a week of intense flying in the high density altitude of eastern Oregon. Along with the international judges, assistant judges and jury, all attendees remarked on the highly cooperative spirit of the championship and the extremely friendly reception they were given by the people of Pendleton and the Pacific Northwest. Keeping the event running smoothly were, of course, a host of hard working volunteers from all over the region and across the US who willingly gave all they could to ensure the success of AWAC 2008.

The organizers, AWAC 2008 Inc., cannot possibly thank everyone involved enough - FAI/CIVA, IAC, IAC Chapters, the competitors & teams, the volunteers, the event sponsors and all the donors for making this event a resounding success.

The specifics continue to be available on the AWAC website (www.awac2008.org), along with a pointer to the detailed, final results of the world championship. Visit the U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Team website at www.advancedaerobaticteam.com.
